some resources for arts marketing

MobileCause offers a platform for cause-related marketing (Food For Lane County uses it…), but they also provide resources such as infographics that depict in visual form some of the key issues and factors in using various social media channels in marketing. Go ahead and take a look!

Americans for the Arts has launched ArtsU, a resource collection for arts workers and learners. There are materials related to ‘arts marketing,’ as well as a range of other topics (check the side bar on the left of the home page).

Graphics Standards & Case study presentations: guidelines and rubric

This presentation will have two parts, and you will each have 8 minutes total.

In the first 4 minutes, you should briefly discuss your graphic standards:

* summarize the rebranding process, with attention to the visual approach you took to the organization  (1min)

* explain each element of your graphic standards packet (2 min)

* discuss choices you made with regards to collateral design layout (elements including logo, artwork, and copy), colors and typography (1min)

You should pull a PDF of your graphic standards up on the screen, and also pass around a printed copy (assembled in a binder) for the class to explore.
In the second 4 minutes, you should provide a short summary of your case study:

* give a brief overview of the organization (1 min)

* highlight one aspect of the environmental scan (e.g. an element you found intriguing or challenging) (2min)

* address the SWOC analysis, focusing on an ‘opportunity’ you see for the organization (1 min)

A total of 5 pts is available for the presentation, and staying within prescribed time constraints is a factor for evaluation. The rubric we will use to evaluate the presentations is:

* aligning with time allocation = 1pts

* addressing specified components of graphic standards = 2pts

* addressing specified components of cases study = 2 pts

Below are the guidelines from Darrel for the brief presentations we’ll have during the scheduled final exam period on Tuesday, 12/10, 7pm. We can certainly discuss moving the presentation/meeting up if everyone’s schedules permit.

Case Study Presentations

Please be prepared to present a 5 minute presentation summarizing your case study findings.  Your audience is a marketing firm. Your goal is to highlight the unique challenges, strengths and opportunities you uncovered through your analysis process. Assume that the audience has no knowledge of your organization. By the end of the presentation, your audience should have an understanding of the marketing focus and possible strategies that would benefit the organization. Suggested time allocation for your presentation:

Overview of Organization (mission, purpose, brief history) – 1 minute
Environmental Scan Summary – 1 minute
Summary of SWOC analysis of 4 P’s – 1 minute
Audience/Customer analysis – 1 minute
Q & A – 1 minute

Note: Visual and technical aids not required. If you choose to use technical presentation tools, please save to your own wordpress site to access in class (we will not have time to plug in thumbdrives, etc).
